Few cities in the world are as iconic as Paris. From the bustle of Châtelet to the ease of Montparnasse, there really seems to be, for lack of a better term, “something” about this place, especially from the perspective of a photographer. After all, it’s not a coincidence that it’s called the City of Light, and whoa, that light is really “something”, too. All in all, Paris is one of my favorite cities that I’ve had the pleasure to visit and for many reasons. Aside from the obvious niceties (food, wine, sights — I mentioned this is Paris, right?), I’ve rarely met more friendly locals than the Parisiennes. Not only were most people more than happy to help with any questions I had, but they were grateful of the fact that I was at least attempting to speak their language. The thought carries so much further than simple courtesies like this, as these residents of Paris seem to have a certain appreciation of their home that they love to share with others. The dinner recommendations are certainly a plus too. I came to Paris originally unsure of the reception an American would receive, but left with a great sense of pride in a city where I felt so at home and welcome in and it was, in large part, because of the people of this city. I put together this series of people and places that, to me, simply shows these wonderful people at home in their city. I hope you enjoy it.
