Last winter I spent the better part of 3 months attempting to document what it is to commute around New York City in the subways. Something that I did not expect when taking on this project was how the experience of riding the trains would become alien to me. I had switched places and was no longer a commuter aboard the train, but an observer. Aimlessly riding everywhere, it gave me a new freedom to just enjoy the train and everything on it. Without my headphones and the anxiety of needing to get somewhere, I was free, free to explore.
The rest of my subway images are now featured in a collaborative effort between two other photographers and me in attempting to produce the printed photo journal “Steady”.

Love the subway photos the one of the guy sat on the train with the New York City sign reminds me of the great Robert Frank’s work

I love the ones where a small face or character appears in a near-abstract image.

great, contrasty images, I wish there was more on the technique though. I always loved to photograph people in subway and metro systems, but one of the most intriguing parts of it, except of the images themselves, is how photographers approach their subjects and actually get to take the photograph in such a small space, where not only the subject, but also the photographer is exposed.

Great black and whites!. I love the use of deep blacks in your images, it makes it very dramatic. Nice style!
